Cloudworld

A poem

The sky on the flight out from Manila to Hong Kong, heading home on my last work trip.

It inspired this poem I wrote on the long haul back. I hope you enjoy it. Do read it aloud!

Cloudworld

What fantastical forms we see!
For whom, this sphere otherworldly?
Separate from earth, space, and sea,
Whose whimsy forms it, please tell me!

Can I float about in this realm?
Of halls and columns, none like them,
Relax by its lakes of blue sky,
Just me, or will someone come by?

The clouds have names so fabulous!
Cumulus, Nimbus, and Cirrus,
Stratus and Cumulonimbus,
So quaint and mellifluous!

Like you, I’m afraid of falling,
But the cloudworld’s so beguiling,
I’d even venture skydiving,
Be part of its wondrous feeling!
