Where ever I look in India, people are breaking traffic rules, littering, spitting, defacing public property, doing shoddy work and in general showing a complete lack of quality in almost everything and anything they do.
Is it just me or is there some fundamental shortcoming in the national character? Was India ever quality conscious? Maybe back in the times of the Guptas and Mauryas or Mughals? I wonder what the quality of ordinary Indians was like back then.
But I sure feel frustrated and get a sinking feeling living in the present in this country. The question I ask myself is if I should give up and simply accept things as they are or try to understand the causes and express my thoughts and feelings and hope it will make some difference in some small way.
